Meet Monica

When I begin to work with clients my main goal is to determine what your expectations are for your life. It is important that we determine what your goals are so that we can work together to reach these goals. Sometimes you may not be able to have a clear picture of what you hope to accomplish in therapy.

Finding clarity is one of the things I will work with you on in order for you to understand who you are and what you want out of your life. I have an easy-going personality and want you as the client to be able to be comfortable when working with me. There will be no judgment. You will have a safe place when talking with me. Giving you this safe space will allow you to make the changes you need to live the life you truly desire.

I use EMDR , Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy to address many issues. I am eclectic and use other approaches from other modalities, but I heavily lean on CBT and EMDR during therapy sessions.

I have been in private practice for 12 years. I was in education for 17 years before making the full transition to private practice. My main motivation in becoming a therapist was wanting to help people live a full life and overcome or learn to cope and manage blocks that are keeping you from living your best life.

I attended undergraduate school at Grambling State University where I majored in Psychology and later received a Master’s degree from Prairie View A & M University in Counseling.

When I am not working, I enjoy traveling with my husband. I enjoy trying new restaurants. I enjoy taking walks and am an avid reader.  Being outdoors is important to me. Summer is my favorite time of year where I am usually enjoying a good book in my hammock.
